Bridgewater Communities for Civil Rights (BCCR) is a community-based organization working to promote and defend civil rights across Bridgewater and its surrounding towns. Through educational and social events, a visible public presence, and media advocacy, BCCR works to ensure all people can live, work, and play in safe, welcoming environments. The group regularly stands out in Bridgewater center to raise awareness of pressing local and national issues, fosters open conversation around social justice, and advocates for the elimination of bias and racism. Each year, BCCR raises the Pride and Juneteenth flags in the town center and supports the annual Juneteenth Celebration at Bridgewater State University. All supporters of civil rights are welcome at its monthly meetings and events.
